Ontario Horticultural Association DISTRICT 8
2024- 2025 Photographic Competition
Rules:
1. The Photographic Competition is open only to the members in good standing of a Horticultural
Society or Club in District 8.
2. Only one print may be entered in each category by an entrant.
3. The entrant must have taken the photo.
4. There are no restrictions on the location where the picture was taken, however, pictures taken in
District 8 are encouraged.
5. The print size is 4 X 6 inches. No borders are to be on the print.
6. On the back of each photo at the top, in pencil include: the name of the entrant, name of home Society and the category it is to be entered in.
7. The photos will be judged, winners announced and shown at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of
District 8.
8. The judge's decision will be final.
9. The judge may reduce the photo to a lower placing if it does not qualify for a higher placing.
10. The final date for entries is April 7th, 2025. No entries will be accepted with post mark dated
after April 7th or a "drop off' after that date.
The photographs will be mounted by the committee for showing.
Adult Categories:
1. "Spring is in the Air", your interpretation. 5. "Garden Shadows", black and white.
2. "Summer's Glory". 6. "Vegetable Wonder".
3. "Fall Splendor", a rural landscape. 7. "Up Close and Personal".
4. "Winter Wonderland". 8. "Early Morning".
Youth Categories:
1. "Garden Friend/s, Animals and/or Insects 2. "Garden Power", Your interpretation
Judging Scale: Horticultural Value — 40% Photographic Value — 40%,
Appearance and Impact — 20%.
Prizes: First - $5.00, Second - $ 4.00, Third - $3.00, Honorable Mention- $2.00
