Quilt Block 2017!

Raised Gardening Beds at Seaforth & Maplewood Manors

One of our Society's constitutional objectives is to promote horticulture and gardening in our area. In May 2015 we purchased two "Veg Trug" raised planters from Lee Valley and soil from Scotts Greenhouse in Mitchell. We installed one of them at the Maplewood Manor, and the other at the Seaforth Manor, so that the residents would have an accessible space in which to enjoy their Green Thumbs! This project was made possible largely by bequests made in memory of life member Mary McLeod.

Elizabeth Park in Egmondville

Over the last few years we have been planting trees in Egmondville's Elizabeth Park. Unfortunately, the existing walnut trees have been hard on the oak and pine trees we've planted, so in 2013 we are trying 'walnut compatible' (we hope) Sugar Maples. (Click on photos to make them Larger)

Library Outdoor Reading Area

Starting in September 2012, led by David Norman and supported by Huron East and the Seaforth Trust, we installed a pergola, patio, benches and shady plants in the area next to the Seaforth Public Library. We have created a beautiful, serene and accessible area where anyone can pause and spend some peaceful moments!  The overall project was designed by Godfrey. Ken, David, Dick, Godfrey and Nick installed the stones, pergola and railings, and David and Ken have planted shrubs, perennials and bulbs. Now we have beautiful 'literary' benches to relax on and enjoy the scenery!
